Precedent...

It's report-writing time again, this time in keeping with the last project on surveying our staircase. As surveying my original staircase (the fire escape stair in the Rose Bowl building, the Leeds Met Faculty of Business & Law) wasn't exactly a thrilling challenge, i decided to find a staircase that captured my attention and my imagination on which to base my precedent study which will be featured in my report. This is "Live Wire", a site-specific installation based in the SCI-Arc gallery in Los Angeles, by Oyler Wu Collaborative. As soon as i came across it i knew this should be the staircase that i should immerse myself in. I find it a shame that it is often relegated to a purely functional use, instead of remaining such an inspiring piece of art work.
